Sydney: A Few Snaps and Stories

I'm back from my short trip to Sydney where I went for a work conference this week.

I was back in the office today and back into work mode which was a bit of a struggle because although it's only interstate the 5 hour flight home last night and 3 hour time difference does take it out of me!

This is my third year attending the conference and I feel this is the best one yet, I've come away learning heaps and my brain is filled to the brim with information and ideas to put into action.

The conference venue was at The Powerhouse Museum which had some great exhibits on Australian Designers and The Beatles in Australia which we could check out for free (on the breaks of course!)

At the function dinner there was a special guest speaker Malcolm Page who is an Australian sailor and shared his story about Olympic success and I got to feel the weight of his medals in my hands that he won in the Beijing and London games.

I stayed at the Novotel Rockford in Darling Harbour and after getting the airport shuttle bus to the wrong hotel (there are 3 Novotels in Darling Harbour so confusing and embarrassing!) I finally managed to find the right one where a big king bed was waiting for me.

There's nothing like having a nice relaxing bubble bath and ordering room service at any time of the day or night for comfort away from home!

I stayed near Paddy's Markets and managed a quick look around at the market stalls and did a bit of early Christmas shopping which I'm sure they'll love when they find out I bought their gifts in Sydney.

Unfortunately I didn't get time to get out of the City and visit any of the homewares stores on my list.

But I'm back in Sydney next month for my family cruise holiday so I might have more time then. The only other shopping I did was at the airport ... that's a bit sad isn't it!

Staying in Darling Harbour is always a buzz with people watching and things to see and do.

A trip to Sydney is not complete without a walk around Circular Quay with the Opera House and views of the Harbour Bridge.

The weather was perfectly sunny and warm and a nice change from the rain and cooler days we've been having in Perth.

Spring is such a great time to travel.

I will be back next month Sydney .... stay sunny until then!

How was your week? What have you been up to?

  5. Sounds nice, even if you didn't get a chance to make it into town. A free trip and a bit of time for shopping sounds like a good deal to me!

  6. Love your photos of Sydney such a great place to visit. This weekend we have been flat out, can't wait to go to bed and start all again tomorrow. We competed in the Rotary Ramble today walked around Northbridge for 4 hours in Perth's version of the greatest race, money raised contributes towards telethon, Princess Margaret Hospital and the Amanda foundation. Well and truly shattered. Enjoy your conference. xxx Rae
