I'm so damn excited about Christmas this year because Mr P and I are hosting our first Christmas lunch with our parents and siblings joining us. The most fun about hosting for me is decorating the tree and house and we'll be doing up the backyard and patio as well because that's where we'll be feasting on Christmas Day. The food isn't too stressful because everyone brings a dish so that really takes the load of having to cook and be in the kitchen all day.
I've been tempted to get my festive on and start putting up the decorations early but I've always waited until 1 December before I dust off the decos and don't want to break with tradition now, so to satisfy my festive spirit I've been trawling through Pinterest updating my Christmas board and flipping through the latest Target, Ikea and Spotlight catalogues for inspiration on colour schemes and Christmas table ideas. I'm thinking about going with a Red, White and Silver theme outside for the Christmas table and patio.
Inside the house the Christmas tree and decorations I want to be a rainbow of colours and brights. I'm also contemplating buying a smaller tree this year, I think I was a little to excited about my first Christmas in the Jarrah Jungle home and got the biggest tree I could find and it is just way too big for our living room ... if I put it in the corner it's blocked by the couches and if I put it near the front door it gets knocked every time you walk past. But I do love it, it's so life like and beautiful. But maybe just a little impractical. Sigh.

Unfortunately, I won't be decorating this year because I'm living with my parents, but I'll help them decorate their house. I'm LOVING the red and white and silver combo though. I find it to be so classy! Good luck with your Christmas hosting! :)
ReplyDeleteIm sure your parents will love that :) Its a great combo isn't it, can't wait to put it all together
DeleteLove your inspirations Michelle! Did the red and gold 2 years ago in my Dining room and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Red and gold is a classy combination bet it looked great :)
DeleteI love all of those decorations, so pretty! I just started on some Christmas crafts this weekend, but I won't be putting them out until after Thanksgiving (Thurs.). I am excited to host Christmas, too! I love the idea of having a rainbow of colors! So pretty! Be sure to share us some pics after the decorating is done :)
ReplyDeleteYou are good, I hope to get my craft on this weekend! Im sure yours will look great, Ill share mine if you share yours ;)
DeleteI'm going all Bah-humbug this year haha..... My house is way too tiny to chuck up a xmas tree so might just do what I did last year & string up some fairy lights throughout the house (if you get bored check out my instagram, there's photos on there from last xmas)
ReplyDeleteps: hope you had an awesome holiday
You cant go wrong with fairy lights they always make a space look pretty. Im going to buy a bunch for outside this year to hide my rusty old patio and turn it into fairy light land ;) Thanks it was great x
Deleteps: forgot to mention Matt & Kim (from the Block) are selling their place..... http://www.realestate.com.au/blog/block-stars-sell-perth-house/
ReplyDeletefun fact: My partners brothers wife is cousins with Matt (phew that was a mouthful ;)
Yes I saw that on the net! I might have to go check it out for a sticky beak!!
DeleteIts a small world isnt it, we are all connected to one another through a brothers cousins wifes friend ;)
My decorating this year will be HAPPY - if it doesn't make a child smile, I don't want it. Red and white candy stripes, Santa, snowmen, nutcrackers, gingerbread men. Not to pretty, not to sophisticated, just right. Have a great day..... Candy
ReplyDeleteThat sounds just amazing Candy, I must get myself some sweets for the kids tables too :)
DeleteOur Christmas decorating this year is super minimalist as we're off to New Zealand on the 20th! I bought one of those small white trees with the bendy branches from a homewares shop and have just decorated that with some of my favourite decs in the entry way and some lights laid out underneath it. In the living room I've put out a few other bits and pieces but no big tree this year, quite sad really - it doesn't feel very Christmassy at all.
ReplyDeleteOh yay NZ, Iv just come back from there!
DeleteI love that kind of look, a stick with your special decorations on it. Very cool. Sounds like youve still tried to make it festive, and at least you wont come back home and have to spend hours pulling everything down again after your holiday!
