Party Planning - Baby Shower Ideas

Anyone who knows me and reads this blog will know that I love party planning!

You can check out my previous parties here .... My Kitchen Rules Australian Dinner Party, Spanish Tapas Party, Indian Dinner Party and Tour De Fridge to name a few!

My latest party planning has been a bit of a challenge because I'm planning a Baby Shower!

I'm not a Mum nor am I a cutsie wootsie kind of girl either BUT I'm definitely a party planner and have surprised myself on how much fun it's been organising this Baby Shower.

I'm throwing the Baby Shower for one of my best friends Mrs V and I'm so excited for her next journey in life being a Mum. I'm helping to decorate and design the nursery, have searched the op shops for must read pregnancy books (like Up The Duff a $3 find and Tori Spelling's Motherhood for .50c - Bargain Queen strikes again!) and I can't stop buying itty bitty outfits for the little one.

So what theme did I pick for this Baby Shower?

Well, to start with I thought about the Mum to be and what she loves ..... She's a bit like me and not into the cutsie wootsie baby stuff either and gender neutral as they're not sure if it's a boy or a girl. She is extremely well travelled and has grown up and lived in different countries which is why the theme of vintage travel really seemed to suit this Baby Shower.

Once I have a theme I can get creative and just run with it, design the invites, hit the shops for the party essentials and decorations to set the party scene. It's just like with home - I love the decorating part the best!

Here's my Pinterest inspiration for a vintage themed Baby Shower .....

Everyone say awwwwwww isn't it cute! But not too cutsie wootsie right? I think it's cute in a cool kind of way!!

If you follow me on Instagram you'll have seen my party finds and craft projects so far .... if you don't follow me you can find me here!

Are there any tips I should know about for throwing a Baby Shower?

  1. What a great theme! And so sweet of you to organise for your best friend. She's very lucky to have you as a friend. As for tips...I'd say make sure you line up some games...a great icebreaker esp if not everyone knows everyone else...and provides plenty opportunities for giggles and laughs.
