Book Review: The Missing Wife By Sheila O'Flanagan

This is a book review of The Missing Wife by Sheila O'Flanagan that was published by Hachette Australia Books on 14 June 2016.

Sheila O'Flanagan worked in finance but always wanted to be a writer, so in her thirties she sat down and penned her first novel - she is now the author of over 20 best selling novels. She lives in Dublin, Ireland with her husband.

This is the self discovery journey of Imogen who wants to escape her controlling husband of 5 years Vince. So Imogen acts out a plan 2 years in the making and leaves Ireland without a word to her husband, friends or family and returns to her childhood home in France to start a new life.

The story is told from both Imogen and Vince's perspective so you follow what Imogen is doing and how she is settling into her new home, making friends and rediscovering who she is. Then you see how Vince is coping with her leaving and what he is doing to try to track her down and find her. I liked the way the story was told from two different points of view it added to the suspense of the story.

This was quite a slow read but thankfully it picked up the pace towards the end. All of the characters were well defined and made the story more interesting. The French setting was nice to read about too.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be transported to the south of France with a lighthearted read about self discovery.

I give this book 3 stars out of  5
