Beauty Packs For Travelling - GAIA Skin Naturals

You know when you're in the comforts of home and you have a beauty routine, everything you need is in drawers and cupboards in the bathroom and easily accessed. But then when you pack to go on holidays it all gets thrown out the window because you can only take the essentials .....

Well this time around when I packed for my cruise holiday I didn't need to lug around my usual bottles and jars from the bathroom because I used these GAIA Skin Naturals travel packs with HIS and HERS travel sized essentials.

HERS ..... The GAIA Skin + Body Collection pack has body moisturiser, body wash, face moisturiser, toner and cleanser.

I have sensitive skin and these products are suited to all skin types, they are soap free, natural and organic. They didn't irritate or make my skin feel dry and they smell lovely with ingredients like grapefruit, rosehip oil, rose water, jojoba oil, chamomile and green tea to name a few!

I found myself using the cleanser, toner and face moisturiser every day on holidays and I don't even do that kind of beauty routine at home! I have continued since I've been back and my skin is feeling nice and soft and looking better for it.

HIS ..... Mr P was quite chuffed that he got to try the GAIA Made For Men - Overnight pack. The men's pack has a face and body wash, scrub, shave gel and face cream.

There's something about spearmint that perks up the senses or maybe it was my gorgeous Mr P wearing it that I'm attracted to, either way these products smelled so good!

The sizes are just right for taking on your carry on as well which makes them perfect for travelling, no more having to decanter products to take on the plane!

They were also the perfect size for the bathroom we had in our cabin, sometimes bathroom space can be limited when travelling but these fit nicely.

GAIA stands for Spirit Of Mother Earth and is a proudly owned and operated Australian business run by a husband and wife duo to produce clean and green products.

You can find the full range of products on their website which are available in supermarkets and pharmacies. These GAIA travel packs would make great Christmas gifts and are reasonably priced at His RRP $17.95 and Hers RRP $22.95

When you travel, what is your must pack beauty item?

Speaking of Instagram I don't know why I didn't join sooner it's so much fun to edit and use the filters on photos. Not to mention the inspiration I get from looking at everyone's photos, there's so many talented people out there and Instagram is a great way to find them!

5 Must Pack Items For A Tropical Holiday

Now that the hard work on the kitchen renovation is pretty much finished I'm looking forward to my cruise holiday onboard Voyager of the Seas that I'm going on later this year. As I'm a self confessed lover of planning what to pack I've started my list of outfits I want to take with me and what I still need to buy.

As well as New Zealand, I'm visiting the island of New Caledonia and Fiji and these places require some tropical getaway outfits. Here are my 5 must pack items for a tropical holiday ...

1. A pair of shorts - These are great for being a bit more adventurous when you're out sightseeing and climbing across rocks and sand to get to the beach. Just avoid the itty bitty butt cheeks hanging out style, I'm sorry but nobody wants to see that!

2. A loose tank top or fitted singlet - That you can mix and match with your bottoms ... now's the time to pick a bright colour or pattern and get into the tropics vibe.

3. Day dress - My favourite go to outfit is a simple summer dress, I don't need to figure out a top and a bottom, just put a dress on and I'm good to go!

4. Swimwear - I always take 2 bikinis in case one is still wet from the pool to the beach, they are only small so take up no room at all. There are so many styles and patterns to choose from, I'm loving this pineapple print!

5. Footwear - I don't really wear flip flops/thongs when doing lots of walking as I don't find them secure or supportive enough. But I'm a big fan of flat sandals especially ones with an ankle strap so they can't come off. These Ipenama style sandals are seriously the most comfortable footwear ever

A hat, sunglasses, lip balm, sunscreen and a camera are must pack items too!

What are your must pack items for a tropical holiday?

Holidaying At Home

This week I was meant to go away to the sea side town of Dongara having booked a cute little chalet right on the water front. But unfortunately plans have changed due to Mr P's work commitments so we cancelled our little mini break. I decided to still take the week off work and have a holiday break at home and I plan to ...

Dream of my new kitchen and go shopping to check out some feature lighting for the island bench and some new bar stools.

Start to get my art for the kitchen and work out what clocks and art go together for my wall of clocks and art. I have some prints to frame and I also want to create my own art by typing up some quotes and printing onto pretty paper.

I can't have a holiday without a day of pampering ... a trip to the hairdressers to get my hair done and a massage and facial while I'm at it. I feel so relaxed and refreshed after some pampering - it's my true guilty pleasure!

I've made plans to catch up with friends - shopping trips, hanging at home and going out for dinner. Catching up with the family too I might need to invite myself over for dinner seems as though I ripped out my kitchen on the weekend (demolition post to come soon!)

Finally, I intend to spend an entire day being an absolute sloth and sitting around in my pajamas and watching day time TV. Lexi will be pleased we can have some doggy days too!

What's your favourite thing to do when your holidaying at home?

Hollywood Dress Up Party: Audrey Hepburn + James Dean

I went to a Murder Mystery Hollywood themed party the other weekend and dressed up as Audrey Hepburn and Mr P went as James Dean.

I'm a big fan of creating my own outfits for fancy dress, a trip to the op shop and some accessory shops and a hunt around my wardrobe and I can usually come up with something pretty good.

I went for Audrey's Breakfast at Tiffany's look and found a long black halter dress from the op shop for $6, the first one I tried on and it fit perfectly!

The diamonte collar was from Diva $35 that I bought recently to go with a wedding outfit and the diamonte and pearl hair clip was a great find at Temt $3.

The satin gloves, pearl bracelet, diamonte studs and suede heels I already had.

For my hair and makeup I used my hair accessory that pulls my hair into a tight bun and then clipped the diamonte and pearl clip around and unleashed the hair spray to tame the fly aways.

Audrey was a fan of natural make up so I used nude eyeshadow, lightly smoked black eyeliner, lashings of black mascara and rose toned lipstick.

As for James Dean Mr P wore his tightest fitting jeans, a white bonds t-shirt and pack of cards that looked like cigarettes up his sleeve and he was an instant James Dean lookalike

Rather handsome too if I might add ;)

The Murder Mystery party had a hired host who organised us into groups, gave us each a name to play by (I was The Oscar Winner and Mr P was The Villain) and had us competing for clues to figure out who the murderer was.

It turned out the murderer was someone in my team and we won the Best Sleuth Award for guessing correctly and dobbing him in!

It was a really great night with lots of fabulous costumes and the Murder Mystery was fun to play out.

Are you a fan of fancy dress parties?

Making A Care Package

One of my best friends has been feeling under the weather lately so I decided to make up a care package to take to her to cheer her up and hopefully stop her from going crazy with boredom laying in bed all day long.

I went on the hunt for little treats that I could fill a shoe box with and then put the box inside a big paper gift bag with the larger items like magazines.

This is what I filled the care package with:

  • Toiletries - Delicious smelling shower gel, a pouf and cute tissues
  • Nail polish & Stickers - Not just any ordinary nail polish but colour changing depending on your mood and fun peace sign nail stickers
  • Scented candle - There isn't a girl alive who won't get cheered up by a scented candle!
  • Magazines - A bunch of different girly magazines (even though they were second hand ones I'd already read, I knew she wouldn't mind)
  • Typo Notebook and Sparkly Pen - Something to write her thoughts down on
  • Morning Tea - Donuts and Cookies and Cream Muffins, ok not the healthiest of snacks but they were delicious. Cranberry juice which has heaps of healthy benefits.
  • Chocolate - Enough for the both of us!
  • Flowers - Picked fresh from my friend's garden

I felt all warm and fuzzy inside when I was putting it together and it put a smile on her face too.

I hope she feels better soon xx

5 Things To Do On Australia Day

Australia's favourite long weekend is this Saturday 26 January ... a nation wide public holiday to celebrate all things Aussie!

Here are 5 things people love to do on Australia Day:

1. Go to a Skyworks Show - most Capital cities have their own big fireworks show and entertainment for all ages going from morning until night and best of all it's free!

2. Throw a shrimp on the BBQ and have a relaxing day kicking back, having a drink with friends and family - finding a poolside party so you can cool off is a must!

3. The sport lovers will be inside in the air conditioning beer in hand watching the cricket or tennis, the lucky ones will be watching a match live and the fit ones will be playing some backyard cricket.

4. Dress up in our national costume, anything goes pretty much so long as it's got the flag on it or is blue, red and white with a few stars thrown in. Bring on the face paint and temporary tattoos ... my blue sparkly nail polish always makes an appearance this time of year!

5. If I'm totally honest the single best thing about Australia Day to me is Triple Js Hottest 100 songs countdown for the year before, which means the party music is sorted from about 10am in the morning onwards!

What are your plans for Australia Day?

Fridays Letters - Dear 30 seconds of fame

I've had a few weeks off from Friday's Letters but I'm back into the swing of things now. Thanks Ashley for hosting Fridays Letters Linky Party, why don't you head on over to Adventures of Newlyweds and join in too.

I'm imagining I'm writing this weeks letters in front of this calm collection of artworks sipping on a glass of sparkling passion fruit wine.

Dear 30 seconds of fame - I have been holding in my excitement of being interviewed and photographed recently and hope to be able to share my 30 seconds of fame very soon!

Dear Girls Weekend Away - 3 nights of eating, drinking, dancing, laughing, talking and just being girls! I had such a great time away and I'm so lucky to have found such a great group of friends to road trip with.

Dear Sparkling Passion Fruit Wine - You have not lived until you have tasted the sweet sensational taste of passion fruit wine. So damn delicious!

Dear MAC Make Up - I'm treating myself to having my makeup done by a MAC artist on Saturday ... smoky eye and false eyelashes will make me feel super girly. Can't wait.

Dear Salad - You don't win friends with salad, but you do get a fitter look bod for Summer! So I guess we'll be friends for the next few months. Mmmkay?!

Holiday Fashion and Shopping Sprees

I'm about a month away from my cruise holiday and have found it a bit hard shopping for Summery outfits whilst the Winter and Spring fashion is in the shops here.

I did manage to find some cute yellow shorts from Forever New and I'm loving their new Tropical Paradise collection ... It would be a dream come true to win a shopping spree in this store!

Mainly my shopping list is for summery dresses and shorts and cute tops for the day time and cocktail dresses for the evening and I'm still on the hunt for ...

A pair of flat sparkly sandals

A hat to keep the sun off
A few more evening dresses

What is your dream store to win a shopping spree in?
