Nursery Inspiration + Organising Ideas

As I've officially hit the third trimester of my pregnancy I'm getting into nesting mode and going on an organising spree throughout the house - the linen, kitchen and bathroom cupboards all need a good tidy up so I can make room for the baby's things!

But first things first I want to finish setting up the baby's nursery and have found so many great ideas on Pinterest to get me inspired. Here's my organising ideas for the room so far ....

As you will see in my earlier post I'm having a chest of drawers that doubles as a change table. For this I purchased the Ikea Hemnes chest of 8 drawers on Gumtree brand new at a fraction of the original price!

I have also purchased some Ikea drawer dividers as the baby's clothes are so tiny the drawer dividers will help keep everything neat and tidy. I've seen some great ideas for organising everything in these drawers with the baby change items like nappies and creams in the top drawers and then clothes in the bottom drawers.

I'll share my chest of drawers and change table organising on the blog once I have set this up in the coming weeks.

We moved an Ikea 2 door wardrobe we had in the Guest Bedroom into the nursery for our baby's pretty dresses, coats and anything else that needs to be hung.

I scored a heap of matching coat hangers for free from Pumpkin Patch who are closing down their Australian stores so I have all nice matching coat hangers in different sizes which is perfect.

I also want to install some shelves in the wardrobe as the hanging space won't take up much room as the clothes are so tiny and I want to make use of all the wardrobe space.  The shelves will be perfect for baskets and storing the linen, boxes of nappies, toys etc ... I have discovered baby's have so many things!

My Ikea 10 cube bookcase will be staying in the nursery (which use to be my study/craft room) and the baby and I will need to share the bookcase as I don't have anywhere else to store my books.

Bookcases are a great addition to a nursery because I can add some decorative boxes or baskets to store toys as well as pretty decor items and books on the shelves.

I want to keep everything baby related in the nursery so whatever I can fit in this room with clever storage I will as I figure it will make it a lot easier to find things if they're all kept in the one room.

Do you have any organising tips for a nursery?

Sale Alert: Vogue + GQ Online Shopping Night

I use to be very much a hands on shopper and loved to browse the shops, buy items that caught my eye (usually on sale!) and then the tricky part was trying to load them all into my car!

But I've come to realise how much easier it is to shop online - you don't have to leave the house and shopping in your PJ's with a glass of wine has become one of my favourite past-times! Often you get better discounts online but more importantly for me is there's more variety as it's not just what's in one store it's the entire warehouse you're shopping from.

So I just have to tell you about a massive one day online sale on today at Vogue and GQ which runs for 12 hours from 12pm - 12am on Wednesday 11 May 2016.

There will be a huge range of fashion brands on sale but my personal favourite is shopping for homewares (of course!).

I am a big fan of Hunting For George which is an Australian based online homewares store run by two awesome sisters. They stock a range of local, international and bespoke brands with lifestyle products homewares, art, bedding and furniture.

Hunting For George are taking part in this one day sale and having 25% OFF EVERYTHING!

This is my shopping wish list for our courtyard garden .....

For the Hunting For George sale at GQ - go here and use the code GOSN2016 at the checkout

For the Hunting For George sale at Vogue - go here and use the code VOSN2016 at the checkout

For everything on sale at GQ go here and for Vogue go here

Please note any purchases using this Hunting For George referral link helps to support this blog as I earn a small commission from your sale .... this doesn't affect the price for you in any way and you get an awesome deal and I get to buy homewares to blog about - it's a win win! Thanks so much for supporting the Jarrah Jungle blog! xx

What are your favourite online stores to shop at?

Stylish Travel Accessories - Ciao Bella Travel

On my recent cruise holiday I wanted to make packing easier and have everything in it's place, neat and tidy, so I could find what I need, when I need it.

I took some stylish travel accessories with me thanks to Ciao Bella Travel an Australian based online store. Ciao Bella Travel was the brainchild of sisters Kirsty and Sarah until 3 years ago when Merci Velez and Ada Bernardo became the proud owners.

Ciao Bella Travel is for the busy lady traveller to have a one stop shop for all things compact and convenient for modern travel. They have a huge range of gorgeous travel accessories, bags, luggage tags, travel pillows, beauty products, travel clothes and much more.

.

My favourite was this Leather Travel Set in a stunning coral orange colour, there are a heap of colours to pick from. These would make such a perfect Christmas gift and are great value at $35 a set.

The set comes with a travel wallet, passport cover and two luggage tags. The wallet was large enough to keep all my travel documents, boarding pass, pen, stamps and money neatly tucked away in the labelled compartments. I may have stood a little smugly behind the people fumbling with papers and dropping pens while I had my stylish wallet at the ready!

As for keeping the inside of the suitcase organised how awesome is this Belt Up Tie Down Roll.

Mr P was happy to use this for his manly accessories like ties and belt etc. It was well padded and felt like quality material, with the mesh compartment handy for small items like a watch and cuff links.

It would make a brilliant gift for men especially those that travel a lot and have accessories to keep organised.

Now who does washing on holidays? Not me that's for sure!

The CBT Laundry Bag was perfect for stashing the dirty clothes in, hung from the door of our cabin the dirties went straight in there, not on the floor or some holey plastic bag! The laundry bag fit quite a lot in it too, a weeks worth of both Mr P and I's smalls .... socks, jocks, knickerbockers and our sandy bathers and board shorts.

But the best thing was when I unpacked the suitcase I pulled out the laundry bag and emptied it straight into the washing machine, too easy!

Now to organise all the gadgets - Chargers and cords for everything, adapters, headphones, camera, iPod and anything else!

The CBT Charger Bag was brilliant it held everything neat and secure and whenever we needed a charger or whatever we knew exactly where they were and could find them easily without having to go rummaging through our luggage or untangle a bunch of cords.

We fit all the cords on the base with adjustable compartments on top and then put the camera and devices on top. It fit all our bits and bobs easily, and in fact even at home we are still using it to store the cords and headphones that we aren't using.

Ciao Bella Travel have their own range of products as well as stocking other brands on their online store.

I liked that I could mix and match from the huge range of products and create a matching set by getting everything in the same colour.

With Christmas just around the corner these would make great Chrissy gifts or a bon voyage present for someone's next holiday!

I felt every bit the stylish and organised traveller with these gorgeous products!

How do you stay organised while travelling?

Kalgoorlie Weekend Away - The Count Down Is On!

I have been absolutely hanging out for my girls weekend away to Kalgoorlie to arrive and it's finally here!

Now to dispel any myths on what happens on a girls weekend away I can say this - it's basically an adults version of a slumber party! We'll do all things girly, paint our nails and do each others hair and makeup. Talk and laugh until the tears come and the belly hurts.

There's nothing better for the soul than a good belly laugh!
Don't you think?

The reason we have picked Kalgoorlie and are heading out to the Goldfields is for the Kalgoorlie Cup and I've treated myself to a new race day outfit - dress, shoes, bag, facinator, jewellery - the works!

I'm really looking forward to a day at the races and have tickets to the Leger Tent with all food, drinks and entertainment included. It's going to be a fantastic day, I must remember not to get too caught up in all the excitement and actually watch a horse race. My family are right into racing, my parents have a few race horses on their farm so I've asked for some winning tips to put bets on!

Dining out in laid back country pubs will be a welcomed excuse to escape from the kitchen at home, as much as I love cooking it's nice to not worry about making dinners or dirty dishes for a few days!

Sorry Mr P you and Lexi will have to fend for yourself for a few days .... and Mr P has promised me some paint on the walls in the laundry when I get home, now that will be nice :)

When was your last weekend away?

Girls Weekend Away .... Kalgoorlie Bound

Since my recent holiday at home post I've been thinking about my girls weekend away to Kalgoorlie for the Kalgoorlie Cup next month.

Now I know some of you may find this amusing .... although I'm a city girl now I really am a country girl at heart. Nowadays I follow fashion, always wear lipstick, scream when I see bugs and like my cushions to match the decor at home. But I wasn't always like that .....

All dressed up for my country hoe down housewarming party!
I think the look I was going for was a cross between Dolly Parton and Daisy Duke!!

Growing up my Mum had to beg and bribe me to put on a dress and I'd only agree to get out of my jeans once a year for a special occasion! My idea of dressing up was wearing clear mascara and my hair in a pony tail. I use to collect spiders from the shearing shed on the farm and bring them up to the house in a jar until my Dad would find them and make me take the creepy crawlies back again!

When my girlfriends suggested we all head to the Kalgoorlie Cup this year for a weekend of fun and festivities that country girl inside me got all excited .... red dirt, sunny days and laid back people sounds like an amazing adventure!

It's time for this city girl to go country again!

Outback wrangling in Queensland!
For those who are wondering where the heck Kalgoorlie is - it's an outback town in the far west of Western Australia about 6 hours drive from Perth. I've been to Kalgoorlie a couple of times - I've gone by car, train, bus and plane. This time around we're catching a plane because it's the quickest way to get there, it takes 1 hour which means we'll get the most out of our weekend away.

To paint a picture of Kalgoorlie ..... there's red dirt everywhere (so don't wear all white!), barren but beautiful landscapes, clear blue skys, stinking hot days and chilly cool nights. It's an outback country town probably best known for the number of pubs on the towns main street - finding a cold beer here is never a problem.
Roadside views like this are seen on the way to Kalgoorlie
Our beautiful rustic Australian bush
The event that a lot of visitors come for is the Kalgoorlie Cup which is on 19 - 20 September this year and the place to be is Tentland with food, drinks, entertainment and of course horse races! I love watching the horses line up ready to race and the excitement as the horses and their jockeys power towards the finishing line ..... I hope I pick some winners!
I can't wait for this girls weekend away .... the promise of an adventure awaits and it's definitely helping me beat the travel bug with a holiday at home.

I'll let you know how our weekend away goes and remember you can keep up to date with my adventures on Facebook and Instagram too!

I found it really helpful to save the word prompt image to the background of my phone to remind me what photo to take that day!
